Czech parliament selects its official house wines14. 6. 2019
The Czech Chamber of Deputies and the Senate will have their house wines which will represent the parliament and the MPs and senators will use them as official presents, as lower house chairman Radek Vondracek (ANO) announced the selected wines in seven categories today.
"The main aim is to promote Moravian and Bohemian wines. The inspiration came from abroad. Many parliaments hold such competitions and have their parliament wines," Vondracek told reporters.
He wants to present the wine to the heads of parliament of the Visegrad Four (V4, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland) at their next meeting in Poprad, Slovakia.
The total of 106 wines from 36 producers entered the competition. The winners, chosen by an expert commission, can use the label "Parliament wine 2019."
The seven awarded wines are the late harvest Riesling 2015 from the Jedlicka family winery, late harvest Pinot blanc 2016 from the Pavlov winery, Chardonnay 2016 from selected grapes from the Jakubik winery, late harvest Blaufrankisch 2016 from the Vinum Moravicum company, late harvest Pinot noir 2015 from Habanske sklepy and Andre 2015 from selected grapes from Velke Pavlovice wine-cultivation station (all south Moravia).
Chateau Radyne extra brut from west Bohemia and the quality sparkling wine from Chateau Bzenec, south Moravia, won in the sparkling wine category.
